Includes items like:
Fees to ask about up front, from move-in costs to nurse delegation and supplies
Staffing and care questions, including awake night staff and what level of care each home can provide
Medicaid policies to ask about before you need them
Documents to request, plus a simple way to rate how each visit felt
I've worked alongside adult family homes in East King County as a nurse for many years. One thing I see again and again is families touring three or four homes in a single week. By the end, it's hard to remember which home had awake staff at night and which one charged extra for supplies.
This checklist holds the questions I recommend asking at every visit. Bring a fresh copy to each tour, write your notes as you go, and you'll have a clear way to compare when it's time to decide.
