My mother was doing well in Assisted Living until she was 103 years old. She suddenly became ill and was hospitalized. At time of discharge, she clearly needed a higher level of care. Everything happened very quickly and I knew Nancy was an RN working in adult family homes, so I called her.
Within hours she found me a lovely home very close to mine where my mother could spend her last few days. She had lost her ability to swallow and previously decided against measures such as a feeding tube. Although she did not live long after being in the hospital, I was relieved to know she was in excellent care 24 hours a day and I felt reassured they kept her very comfortable. I was thankful for Nancy's quick action as the situation came up so fast.
